20 years of sustainable business practice
Small business, global impact

20 years of Sustainable business practise

Since 2006, Sunglass Fix has been crafting precision replacement lenses from our Byron Bay workshop. What began as a small idea has grown into a global effort to keep quality sunglasses in use and out of landfill - saving over half a million pairs so far.

Our 1% For the Planet partners

Sunglass Fix is proud to be part of the global 1% for the Planet network — a community of businesses giving back to environmental causes. Each year, we donate 1% of our annual sales to organisations protecting and restoring the natural world. It’s a simple idea that helps every purchase make a real difference.

Rainforest landscape

Rainforest Resuce

"Rainforest Rescue is a not-for-profit organisation that has been protecting and restoring rainforests since March 1999 by providing opportunities for individuals and businesses to Protect Rainforests Forever. Our projects re-establish rainforests through planting, maintenance, and restoration programs, as well as purchasing and protecting high conservation value rainforest and preserving its biodiversity."

Deconstruction work in Hawaii

Re-use Hawaii

"Re-use Hawai‘i was founded in 2006 as a solution to Oahu's solid waste problem. More than one third of Oahu's waste comes from debris produce by demolition activity.

We offer Deconstruction Services as an alternative to demolition. Our skilled teams remove structures by hand for the purpose of recovering the material for reuse. The recovered material is made available at our Redistribution Center, which provides these materials to the community as an affordable building material resource."

Bower reuse workshop

Bower Reuse & Repair

"The Bower is an environmental charity with strong social outreach. Through our activities, we reduce waste and CO2 emissions and for over 20 years we have pioneered waste reduction through the reclamation of household goods, reuse and repair initiatives such as workshops, repair cafes, bespoke recycled materials, and resale at affordable prices of repurposed and preloved goods.

Using reclaimed and recycled materials we run courses including the building of tiny house courses, DIY, woodworking upholstery, furniture repairs, bike maintenance, and clothing repairs."

Community gathering

Norther Rivers Community Foundation

"NRCF is a charity dedication to improving the lives of those less fortunate in the Byron, Ballina and Tweed communities. We are a community-based independent foundation where donations are invested to build a capital amount of money. We then invest this wisely in ethical funds, and the interest and dividends from these funds go towards our annual grant program. This means we can provide a permanent source of funds to the community year after year. As you continue to donate, so our grant funding grows and so does the investment fund."
